LINDSAY ASKINS is a mother, doula, and (birth) photographer. Her education and professional background includes a degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M, working as a veterinary tech for a decade, breeding horses, and teaching high school science. After a small teaching career, Lindsay launched her photography business - Spot of Serendipity Photography - in 2010 photographing military homecomings and families. After the birth of her first daughter in 2012 and doula certification, Lindsay’s work organically shifted toward photographing birth.
While Lindsay enjoys many types of photography, documenting births is her specialty... and a job she never tires of, always feeling honored to capture the birth of a baby for families. She shoots with Nikon cameras and lenses, swapping in some vintage 1970's lenses from her father's old 35mm. Lindsay's work authentically reflects what your eye beholds, and she refrains from using flash photography in a laboring or birthing space.
In addition to birth photography, Lindsay works as a homebirth doula, postpartum doula, and offers placenta encapsulation for families in the Hudson Valley and Manhattan.
