Katherine Anderson, Childbirth Educator and Labor Support Doula, is a Northern California native residing in Dobbs Ferry with her husband Calvin and their two children Rebecca and Gabriel. The birth of her daughter was a defining moment for Katherine. "I knew at that instant that I wanted to be with and help guide expectant women in the amazing journey of pregnancy, labor, and birth. I believe that when women are allowed to trust in the innate wisdom of their bodies, giving birth can be an experience that is both empowering and life changing." Katherine's philosophies and beliefs about pregnancy and birth are inspired by the works of Sheila Kitzinger, Dr. Michel Odent, Ina May Gaskin, Gayle Peterson, and by the many wise women she has trained with through the International Childbirth Education Association. In addition to her work as a childbirth educator and doula, she is a violist with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

   White Plains, NY

  •  6 Class series in small group setting
  •  Private childbirth classes, refresher or VBAC by appointment (English & German),

Silvie is a certified childbirth educator and labor support doula with a strong psychological background. She trained with Childbirth International focusing on evidence based care, natural comfort measures and an emphasis on communication skills.  She views pregnancy and birth as a natural process and a right of passage. She believes that there is not only a baby conceived and born but also a mother and a father initiated and a community invited to welcome and raise a child. She believes that the birth process has a strong first imprint in our lives and that it matters how we are born.

Classes are designed to strengthen woman’s innate wisdom in their natural ability to birth, discuss childbirth options to make informed choices, to explore a variety of labor-support skills and to be prepared for the basics of parenting a newborn.

Partners and/or support persons are invited to join the process and explore how they can be of best help.

Silvie is a native Austrian and lives with her husband and daughter in White Plains, NY. She offers her services in English and German.

Westchester, NY

•    Small groups meet for 6 sessions + 1 postpartum support visit for each family
•    Private classes are also available

Victoria teaches Westchester’s only Birthing From Within childbirth preparation class.  She was drawn to this approach because it is strongly rooted in the belief that within each woman is the intuitive knowledge of how to birth her baby.  After experiencing two vastly different birth journeys, Victoria realized it was the faith she had in her body and her baby that was most important.  In both hospital and homebirth environments, she was supported by wise women who honored her birth intentions.  Now she works to help others to nourish and trust that same wisdom.

Through breath awareness practice, birth art creations, medical support awareness, and developing the ability to listen and respond to their bodies and their babies, parents prepare for the transformative journey of birth.  Partners embrace their role as guardians of the birth and learn how to foster a safe environment for the laboring mother.  Mothers learn to open themselves to the creative power and potential thrill of birth.  This program helps parents prepare to birth both within our current culture and from within themselves.

Lisa Gould Rubin, CCE, CD (DONA), Birth and Newborn Parenting Consultant, has been teaching childbirth classes and providing professional labor support (confused back then with working for the unions) for nearly thirty years and for hundreds of women long before it became a recognized profession and took on the title “Doula”.

She helps women and their partners find their way to the birth that’s right for them and their own emerging parenting style so they can end up feeling good about themselves, the process and each other.

Lisa helped establish the doula program at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC.  She has provided expert advice on childbirth and parenting to publications like The New York Times, Parenting Magazine and the Utne Reader. • Group childbirth preparation series at Full Circle Family Care in White Plains
  • Private childbirth, VBAC, or sibling preparation classes by appointment

Our childbirth education classes are fun, interactive and informative. We prepare expectant parents for the unique experience of childbirth by providing information on the birth process and developing coping strategies for labor. Birthing a child is a normal, natural, instinctive process, and our holistic philosophy of teaching focuses on the physical, emotional and medical factors that influence a birthing woman. We recognize that there are many types of families and we honor many differing perspectives on birth. Pregnant women and their partners leave class well-informed and confident. We offer group, private, and refresher classes.

Shrub Oak, NY

  • Group childbirth preparation classes
  • Private childbirth classes in your home by appointment

Nancy McDaid is a mother of four. She has been attending births since 2002 and is a certified birth doula through DONA International. Nancy has taken many additional workshops for continuing her education and staying on top of the latest research.  She has also spent time at Ina May's farm in Sumertown Tennessee to learn how to be a midwife's assistant. She now assists a home birth midwife as well as taking on her own doula clients.

Nancy offers a 6 week series of holistic childbirth classes in small groups at her home in Shrub Oak, NY (a small hamlet of Yorktown).  Her classes focus on preparing both mom and partner for a natural labor and delivery, whether it be a hospital birth or at home and learning all options available to make informed decisions with your care.  She designs the classes to be fun and interactive, and allows lots of time for all questions to be answered.  Her goal is to erase all fears in order to allow mom and partner the opportunity to enjoy welcoming their newest family member.  If group classes are not an option, private classes in your own home can also be scheduled.
